Deliciously Ella | How to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle and Feel Great

To me a healthy lifestyle kind of incorporates
everything. Food is a big part of that but it’s also trying to get sleep, exercise, kind
of mental balance. So I try and exercise maybe 4 times a week – I do a mix of different things:
spin, yoga, Pilates, a new obsession with boxing. So just about everything really. And
then, I’ve started writing a gratitude journal which is my new slightly hippie thing but
it’s making a big difference to my outlook and yeah try and do 7 hours sleep a night
and generally try and get quite a good balance in my life because I think it’s really important
if you want to feel your best, to look after yourself in every aspect. Exercise is quite an important part of my
life actually – it’s made a really big difference to how I feel. I find it helps me get mental
balance, its the one time you can kind of switch off – you know, you go into a spin
class, the music’s really loud, the lights are down – you know, you can’t be on your
phone, you can’t check your emails and it allows you to really clear your head and I
find just gives you quite a positive mindset to start your day with, especially if you
start early in the morning. If I’ve had a really busy day I quite like
heading to something like, there’s a really good lentil and tomato pasta, or a pasta arrabbiata
or the carborara- something that’s really comforting and warming but I use brown rice
pasta instead so it’s still wheat-free but it tastes exactly the same and yeah, you feel
good for it but you also feel very satisfied and it’s good proper comfort food when you’ve
had a tiring day. I think the easiest way to change your lifestyle
for the better is do it in ways that you enjoy and do it slowly, you know, eating well, living
well, should be about something’s that sustainable and enjoyable and something you can do forever,
so don’t rush it, you know, you shouldn’t go from the way you’ve always eaten overnight
to giving up everything and living on kale. You know, it’s not what it’s about – incorporate
things into your life slowly you know but when you add more vegetables, it can be sweet
potato wedges and guacamole – it doesn’t need to be stemmed greens and its important to
remember that and hold onto that.
