Grand Canyon Photography: Story Behind The Shot | Kamran Ali | Sony Alpha Universe

I’m a photographer, traveling around the world
by bicycle. A couple of months ago, I was in the Grand
Canyon and I met a lady named Jordan. She was doing an 800-miles Arizona trip in
the memory of her sister who committed suicide a year ago. And of the things she said was that “Instead
of choosing dark, I choose light.” So instead of sinking into grief, I chose
to be out at a place which my sister loved. And when she was telling me about that and
about choosing light over dark, we were at the edge of the Grand Canyon and I saw the
sun and then there were dark clouds coming over the sun and I saw shafts of light. And I took my camera out, I had 24-70 mm lens
on a7R III. For me, that captured the perfect moment,
light and dark in the same frame. And it turned out to be one of the best pictures
I have taken. Not only of her, but of all the trip because
that story was very important and that picture helped me tell that story.
