My name is Beat. I work at ifolor as a backend developer As a computer scientist, it’s my job to hide all the complexity on our systems from the customer. And to give them a simple and pleasant ordering experience. In the morning when I arrive at the office, I look at the new issues from the monitoring portal first. The day continues with the Daily Standup Meeting at 9 a.m. There we discuss who did which tasks the day before. So that everyone is up to date. Then we get down to business. Developing. Naturally we also talk shop until the coffee break. Who has to do what and what we could improve in our systems. During the lunch break we try to retreat a bit and relax. The ideas continue flowing and other things are also discussed. It’s the same scenario in the afternoon. Programming. Testing. Deploying. I’m responsible for everything. When you upload a photo. All the billing, shopping cart and processing of photos until you end up with the final product. I actually really like doing everything in my job. And sitting with colleagues, discussing, brainstorming and seeing the ideas flow. I find that very interesting. The customer does not necessarily see the innovation on our side in the backend. What we want to offer our customers is a better, faster and more reliable service. And we work on that day in day out. ifolor gives us a great deal of freedom: With the new technologies we work with, new ideas we’re allowed to contribute. And so I’d say we’re on the right track. My personal highlight is that we have such a great team spirit: I was able to settle in well and had a very warm welcome, and that we’re all pulling together forward in the same direction. We know what we’re doing. At the end of the day you can see the finished product which has been made with the help of my work. And that makes me happy.
