Perfecting Your Personal Brand

Perfecting Your Personal Brand

Hi I’m Kathleen Pringle, president of Predictive Insights
and i’m a master career strategist and coach to senior professionals and executives
and on october 20th of 2010 had the opportunity to address as part of the RIT alumni serious a topic
called Perfecting Your Personal Brand and today i’m here to talk about the three elements
of a brand that everybody needs to consider so that their message is consistent to their audience
first is the aspect of bran discovery, understanding your unique
promise of value So my question to you is can you state
your five most relevant and compelling brand attributes the adjectives that describe your unique promise
of value and what separates you from your peers Can you.. do you know how others think about you? Do you know how to describe yourself what are your strengths and weaknesses umm.. have you identified your vision for the world
and can you state your top five values and passions and have you documented your
long and short term goals and do you rate them regularly? That’s all about brand discovery and once
you understand that then it’s up to you to communicate your brand so that you can express that to your target
audience. Do you clearly know who your target audience is? Do you have a brand communications
plan and you have the right identity system? Meaning your business cards, your stationary, your linkedin profile, your resume.
Do they all say similar things that are consistent so
that people are not getting mixed messages about who you are and what you can contribute and what your
value is? Also have you published or been e-Published in any kind of blogs or journals
to reinforce your brand and have you spoken either within your organization or to a
professional group anytime in the last year? Those things are what we call part of communicating
your brand. And lastly, what we want to do is be able to consistently
reinforce you’re brand so that you can expand it and ultimately be able to communicate regularly
consistently to your community. Do you belong in a leadership role where people truly
understand what it is that you’re capable of and would they know what to call you for? Do you mark every project with your particular
brand and what about your personal style meaning your image, your appearance, your wardrobe,
your business accessories, are they consistent with your personal brand and how about even
your space the office space you occupy your office? Doesn’t speak to your brand? If you’ve been able to answer yes to most
of these questions your in great shape. and if not, then perhaps you need to work
on your personal brand. Thanks
